, India Job Family Group: Business Administration Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: June 1, 2026 Business Unit: Downstream and Renewables Experience Level: Experienced Professionals Job Description: Job Purpose The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring end‑to‑end statutory, environmental, factory, labor, and industrial compliance across operations. The role involves proactive monitoring of regulatory amendments, liaison with statutory authorities, handling audits and inspections, managing litigations, and advising senior management on compliance risks and mitigation strategies. Key Responsibilities Regulatory & Statutory Compliance Ensure timely filing of Annual Returns for Hazardous Waste (HW) and Environment Statement (ES) in line with applicable environmental regulations. Track, interpret, and implement updates or amendments in factory, labor, and environmental laws and ensure organizational compliance. Manage statutory filings including: ASI (Annual Survey of Industries) Return E‑Waste Returns EPR Compliance – Plastic Waste Management EPR Compliance – Metal Waste Management & Environmental Compliance Oversee handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of Hazardous Waste in compliance with Pollution Control Board (PCB) guidelines. Ensure adherence to MPCB, CPCB, and other applicable environmental authority norms. Implement systems for waste traceability, vendor compliance, and audit readiness. Licensing & Certifications Manage renewal and acquisition of Licenses to Operate and statutory approvals from authorities such as: DISH, MPCB / CPCB, DIC, MIDC, CIDCO, PNGRB Coordinate ERDMP and other mandatory certifications applicable to operations. HSSE, Audits & Inspections Work closely with HSSE Specialists to support: External Safety Audits Stability Certificates for LOBP Factory and BO Terminal (JNPA) Lead and support Legal, Customer, ISO, and OHSAS/ISO 45001 audits, ensuring documentation, corrective actions, and closures. Legal Compliance & Risk Management Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Environmental, Labour, Factory, and Industrial Laws. Liaise with inspectors, government officials, and regulatory authorities during inspections and hearings. Handle legacy compliance issues, notices, and non‑compliances; develop closure and risk‑mitigation plans. Manage and coordinate litigations, court matters, and judicial proceedings, in consultation with internal and external legal counsel. MIS, Reporting & Governance Develop and maintain Legal & Compliance MIS Trackers to provide real‑time compliance status to senior management. Proactively identify potential compliance risks and recommend preventive and corrective actions. Prepare management reports, compliance dashboards, and statutory calendars. Key Competencies & Skills Technical & Functional Competencies Strong knowledge of Environmental Laws, Factories Act, Labour Laws, and Industrial Regulations Practical exposure to EPR frameworks, waste management rules, and PCB compliance Hands‑on experience with statutory audits, inspections, and enforcement proceedings Ability to interpret legal amendments and convert them into actionable compliance plans Behavioral & Professional Skills High level of integrity and ethical judgment Strong stakeholder management and regulatory liaison skills Proactive, detail‑oriented, and risk‑focused approach Effective communication and documentation skills Ability to work independently and under regulatory pressure Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Law, Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or related discipline Master's degree or LLB/LLM will be an added advantage Minimum 10–15 years of hands‑on experience in compliance, legal, environmental, or industrial regulatory roles Proven exposure to manufacturing, factory, terminal, logistics, or heavy industrial environments Demonstrated experience dealing with regulatory authorities, audits, inspections, and court proceedings Key Deliverables Zero regulatory non‑compliance and penalties Timely filings, renewals, and statutory approvals Strong audit outcomes with minimal observations Proactive risk mitigation and governance transparency This role is critical in safeguarding the organization from regulatory, legal, and reputational risks while ensuring sustainable and compliant operations.
