As a Backend Engineer at vCare Denmark, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and operating production-grade systems on AWS. Your work will directly impact patient outcomes by contributing to Cordia, a next-generation Health Management Platform. Your responsibilities will include:
Building backend services using Python, specifically AWS Lambda with FastAPI-style architecture
Designing and evolving data models in PostgreSQL (RDS) using Alembic migrations
Developing and maintaining REST and GraphQL APIs
Collaborating with web (Angular) and mobile (Flutter) teams
Deploying services using GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
Writing and maintaining tests (pytest) with Docker-based local environments
Creating backend support for notifications such as email, SMS, and push
Utilizing AWS Bedrock / LLMs for generating reports and insights
In this role, you will also have production ownership responsibilities, including:
Debugging issues using CloudWatch and application logs
Investigating failures in Lambda, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and database queries
Resolving issues independently to ensure system reliability
You should feel confident in troubleshooting live systems without constant guidance. The qualifications required for this position include:
2 - 4 years of work experience as a developer
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Strong Python skills with a focus on clean code, debugging, and testing
Experience with REST APIs (GraphQL knowledge is a plus)
Good understanding of SQL and data modeling, particularly in PostgreSQL
Working knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, and RDS/DynamoDB
Experience in writing tests using pytest or similar tools
Familiarity with Git, Pull requests, and CI/CD workflows
Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities
Exposure to the healthcare domain and knowledge of FHIR standards is advantageous
Additionally, the following skills and experiences are considered nice to have:
Experience with Alembic migrations
Proficiency in Docker-based development environments
Exposure to LLMs / AI APIs (Bedrock, OpenAI, etc.)
