As a DevOps Engineer at Nielsen, you will play a crucial role in evaluating, contributing to, and leveraging open source technologies to enhance our internal SaaS/PaaS platforms. Your responsibilities will include:
Evaluating and leveraging technologies such as Kubernetes, Trino, Spark, Airflow, Prometheus, ELK, Jupyter, and more to enhance our platforms. - Acting as an internal salesperson for DevOps tools and best practices to drive full adoption by all teams. - Diagnosing technical and scalability faults on platform services built on Kubernetes. - Providing technical support and guidance to users of our platforms services. - Driving the creation and refinement of metrics, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms for better visibility into our production services. Role Requirements:
Passion for software development and DevOps. - Proficiency in SQL and scripting in bash and/or python for automation. - Experience with DevOps automation technologies like Terraform, Ansible, Secrets Management, Git, Jenkins, etc. - Familiarity with Unix/Linux based platforms, containers (docker, containerd), and AWS Services. - Minimum of 2 years of work experience and a degree in computer science, engineering, math, or related fields. Desired Skills:
Strong coding skills in Java or Python (or willingness to learn). - Experience with containers (docker, containerd) and Kubernetes. - Familiarity with technologies like Presto, Trino, Spark, Airflow, Prometheus, ELK, etc. - Prior history of open source contributions. - Interest in maintaining a personal tech blog.
