As a Commercial Manager of Chemicals & Fertilizers in the Agri-chemical industry in Kenya, you will play a crucial role in achieving business growth by meeting business targets through selling Chemical & Fertilizer products. Your key responsibilities will include:
Developing and implementing successful sales strategies, marketing/sales plans, and forecasts to achieve departmental objectives for products, ensuring the organization's revenue target is met each financial year. - Recommending product positioning and pricing strategy to maximize long-term market share. - Coordinating with export farm agronomists to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts, setting performance goals accordingly. - Monitoring competitor products, sales, and marketing activities, while conducting market research to identify new potential customers and market opportunities. - Building and strengthening business relationships with existing and prospective clients, exploring market opportunities, and developing innovative products to meet customer needs. - Managing the business portfolio through business development, achieving the targeted business mix and loss ratio. - Developing departmental budgets and business plans to meet company targets. - Entrenching sales performance-based appraisal of departmental sales staff according to set KPIs and targets. - Designing, implementing, and reviewing policies to guide work ethics and maintain best practices within the department. - Planning and executing tactical sales campaigns to maximize sales revenue. - Training, coaching, and mentoring staff to improve sales performance and cohesion within the department. - Participating in management meetings, projects, and committees as assigned. Qualifications required for this role include:
Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or a related field
Membership of a relevant professional body
Any advanced training in Agronomy will be an added advantage
At least 5 years of relevant experience in the sale of Chemicals & fertilizer products
3 years of Commercial Managerial experience
Prior experience in Africa or emerging geographies will be an added advantage
Superior communication skills, both written and oral
Strong sales and negotiation skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
