At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done. We are looking for a Senior Atlassian Engineer to own, scale, and enhance our Atlassian ecosystem primarily Jira, Confluence, and Jira Service Management, as part of the Enterprise Productivity Application team. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for all things Atlassian, combining deep platform administration expertise with automation and custom development to improve engineering and business workflows across the organization. You will serve as the technical lead for our Atlassian platform, driving best practices, governance, and continuous improvement. A secondary aspect of the role involves supporting integrations with cloud and DevOps tooling, making basic cloud infrastructure knowledge a plus but not the primary focus. #
· Own end-to-end administration of the Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, JSM)
· User management, permissions, workflows, schemes, custom fields, and configurations
· Project and space setup, maintenance, governance, and lifecycle management. · Manage Atlassian Cloud or Data Center instances including upgrades, migrations, and health monitoring·
· Design and implement scalable Atlassian solutions
· Customize Jira using ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, Groovy scripting, and REST APIs
· Build and maintain complex workflows, post-functions, validators, and conditions
· Develop and manage integrations between Atlassian tools and third-party systems
· Act as the technical lead and subject matter expert for all Atlassian products
· Define and enforce best practices, naming conventions, standards, and governance
policies
· Guide teams on effective Atlassian tool usage, Agile board configurations, and process optimization
· Lead Atlassian platform migrations (Server to Cloud, project consolidations)
· Drive continuous improvement of the Atlassian ecosystem
· Analyze current configurations, identify gaps, clean up legacy schemes, and reduce technical debt
· Own and contribute to the Atlassian platform roadmap
· Evaluate and recommend Atlassian Marketplace apps and plugins
· Troubleshoot and provide advanced support
· Resolve complex issues related to permissions, workflows, performance, and integrations
· Optimize JQL queries, dashboards, filters, and reporting for stakeholders
· Manage incident escalations related to Atlassian platform availability
· Support cloud and DevOps integrations (secondary)
· Maintain integrations between Atlassian tools and CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and DevOps platforms
· Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP) to support tool connectivity
· Collaborate across teams
· Work with engineering, IT, and business stakeholders globally
· Support Agile processes, SDLC workflows, and SAFe/Scrum ceremonies
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
· 7-8 years of hands-on experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management)
Deep expertise in:
· Jira administration — workflows, workflow schemes, permission schemes, notification schemes, custom fields, screens, and issue types
· Advanced JQL for queries, filters, and dashboards
· ScriptRunner (Groovy), Automation for Jira, and Jira REST APIs
· Atlassian Cloud administration or Data Center management
· Jira Service Management (JSM) configuration — queues, SLAs, portals, and request types
· Confluence administration — spaces, templates, permissions, and macros
Experience with:
· Atlassian Marketplace app evaluation, installation, and management
· Platform migrations (Server to Cloud, project merges/splits)
· Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and SDLC processes
· Building custom Jira plugins or Forge/Connect apps
· System integrations and cross-tool dependencies
· Basic/working knowledge of (secondary):
· Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) — general understanding
· CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.) and how they integrate with Atlassian
· DevOps practices and monitoring tools
· Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills
· Good understanding of Data and AI usage for process automation
