As a Principal Automation Engineer, you will play a crucial role in driving the end-to-end quality engineering strategy, building scalable automation solutions, and championing engineering excellence across product teams. Your responsibilities will include:
Defining and leading the frontend automation strategy aligned with product and platform goals. - Designing and developing scalable automation frameworks for UI, accessibility, visual regression, and performance testing. - Integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines, establishing early quality gates and enabling shift-left adoption. - Implementing AI-driven techniques for test generation, self-healing, prioritization, and defect prediction. - Driving continuous improvement of automation maturity and quality metrics across teams. - Collaborating closely with engineering, product, UX, DevOps, and release teams ensuring seamless delivery. - Mentoring automation engineers and influencing engineering leadership through best practices and technical standards. - Owning large and complex functional areas independently from design through production validation. - Building dashboards and analytics to enable data-driven quality decisions. Qualifications Required:
1015 years of experience in Quality Engineering/Test Automation, with a strong focus on frontend platforms. - Strong coding proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern UI frameworks. - Expertise in UI test automation: TypeScript, Selenium, WebdriverIO. - Testing exposure in projects for Accessibility, Internationalization, UX, and Telemetry. - Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins). - Strong debugging, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and system architecture understanding. - Excellent communication skills, stakeholder collaboration, and ability to influence engineering direction. Preferred qualifications include experience with performance, reliability, visual, and accessibility testing, working knowledge of containerized and cloud-based execution (Docker, Kubernetes, cloud test grids), building automation for large-scale distributed systems or SaaS products, contributions to engineering communities, publications, open-source, or thought leadership, and a passion for innovation, engineering craftsmanship, and continuous improvement culture.
