The Cloud Engineer is responsible for the hands-on migration of on-premise virtual machines and infrastructure workloads to Microsoft Azure. This role supports migration execution, validation, troubleshooting, and post-migration stabilization under the guidance of the Technical Lead. In addition, the role operates within a managed services environment, ensuring operational stability by proactively monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents across infrastructure and cloud platforms. Key Responsibilities VM Migration Execution Perform hands-on migration of virtual machines from on-premise environments to Azure using Azure Migrate and related tools. Support migration activities including discovery, assessment, replication, testing, and cutover. Execute migration strategies such as rehost (lift-and-shift) and assist with replatforming where required. Conduct validation testing to ensure successful migration and workload functionality. Support post-migration stabilization and performance tuning activities. Troubleshoot migration-related issues across compute, storage, and networking layers. Cloud & Infrastructure Operations Provision, configure, and manage Azure Virtual Machines and related infrastructure components. Support Windows and Linux server administration in both on-premise and cloud environments. Assist in configuring hybrid networking components (VPN, ExpressRoute, DNS, etc.). Support backup, disaster recovery, and high availability configurations. Technical Support & Incident Management Resolve incidents and service requests within agreed SLA timelines under general supervision. Monitor systems proactively and identify issues before service impact. Investigate, analyse, and troubleshoot technical issues across infrastructure environments. Maintain accurate and timely updates in ticketing systems with resolution details. Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or Technical Leads where required. Service Delivery & Process Compliance Ensure adherence to ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, and Change Management. Support change implementation and document all activities accordingly. Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives and operational efficiency. Participate in disaster recovery testing and operational readiness activities. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing Work closely with Technical Leads, architects, and cross-functional teams to support migration and operational activities. Share knowledge and document solutions for common issues. Support junior engineers where required and contribute to team knowledge base. Required Skills & Qualification 3–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure implementation and support. Hands-on experience with Azure infrastructure and migration projects. Strong skills in: Azure administration (VMs, storage, networking) Azure Migrate Windows and Linux server administration Networking fundamentals (IP, DNS, VPN) PowerShell scripting (basic to intermediate) Experience in VM provisioning, troubleshooting, and infrastructure operations. Exposure to enterprise IT environments and migration projects. Key Competencies Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work in fast-paced and high-pressure environments. Good communication and stakeholder interaction skills. Detail-oriented with strong documentation practices. Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service quality. Qualifications & Certifications Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience). Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solution Architect (Expert) Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate Other cloud or infrastructure certifications are advantageous.
