Job Description: This job is responsible for defining architectural vision and solution aligned to the enterprise architecture strategy, technology, and platform choices. Key responsibilities include describing the solution intent/associated operating environment, evaluating system impacts, determining the primary systems/sub-systems and their interfaces, and assisting with end-to-end solution design. Job expectations include defining non-functional requirements/architectural runway to support new epics/features and ensuring solutions are fit for purpose by working with stakeholders and service providers. Responsibilities: Consults with the business and operations to identify and understand challenges and opportunities to improve the use and effectiveness of technology, find creative solutions through knowledge of the domain, practical experiments, and Proof of Concepts, and aligns the solution intent and architectural vision to an evolving backlog of technology change Works with product management and other stakeholders to plan and prioritize technology focused backlog items for the architecture runway to enable business epics/features Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements for a solution are sufficiently met (for example, security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability) Leads rapid shaping of a high level architecture with details filled in with emerging business requirements and ensures architecture is flexible, modular, and designed to adapt easily Cloud Strategy & Architecture Leadership Define and execute cloud and platform architecture strategy aligned with business objectives and enterprise technology standards for a digital platform Provide architectural oversight to ensure platform initiatives (on‑prem and cloud) support scalability, resiliency, reliability, and long‑term evolution. Establish and evolve a secure, compliant, and scalable platform foundation. Define and govern integration patterns across enterprise platforms and domains. Apply appropriate tools, frameworks, and best practices to support platform stability, performance, monitoring, and operational excellence. Regulatory, Security & Compliance Provide architectural insight in compliance with regulatory, data residency, and security requirements for CashPro platform. Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Information Security teams to ensure adherence to control standards and audit readiness. Support internal and external reviews related to application architecture and controls. Team & Capability Development Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies, and best practices to create innovative solutions Clarifies the architecture and assists with system design for the development teams to support implementation and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments Utilizes the defined best practices, templates, and documentation to create architectural designs and suggests improvements to best practices and templates Position Summary Bank of America is undertaking a strategic, regulated online presence for one of our digital platforms. This role will lead the cloud and AWS architecture strategy for this initiative. It is a senior position focused on building a compliant, scalable, and cost‑effective cloud foundation that supports both immediate regulatory needs and the long‑term future of our digital platform. This is not solely a migration role—it is a strategic transformation opportunity requiring strong architectural leadership in a highly regulated environment. Required Qualifications: Proven experience designing and leading enterprise‑scale cloud architectures, with deep hands‑on expertise in AWS services including networking, identity and access management (like Ping Identity), Content delivery network (like Akamai), security, monitoring, and resiliency frameworks and products. Strong background delivering technology solutions in highly regulated financial services environments, with demonstrated understanding of regulatory controls, audit readiness, and risk management Experience architecting platforms that meet data residency, encryption, and access control requirements, particularly in markets with local regulatory mandates Demonstrated leadership in driving cloud adoption as a transformation, aligning architecture decisions to business outcomes rather than executing point migrations Proven ability to partner effectively with Information Security, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Infrastructure teams. Well versed with Infrastructure and network domains and able to offer solutions for applications resiliency and availability. Experience guiding and mentoring engineers and architects, setting technical direction, and raising overall cloud maturity Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate complex architectural concepts to both technical and senior business stakeholders Experience managing architecture dependencies across distributed systems and integrating cloud platforms with existing enterprise applications Desired Qualifications: AWS Professional‑level certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Security Specialty) Experience working with global, multi‑region platforms and cross‑border application integrations Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, automation, and infrastructure‑as‑code frameworks Exposure to working with vendor products and vendors like Akamai, Ping Identity, Glassbox etc Exposure to AWS analytics, automation, and AI/ML services to enable innovation within regulated environments Experience managing vendor relationships, influencing roadmaps, and negotiating technical and commercial terms Prior experience contributing to or leading architecture governance forums or design review boards Skills: Analytical Thinking Architecture Result Orientation Solution Design Technical Strategy Development Shift: 1st shift (United States of America) Hours Per Week: 40 Pay Transparency details US - IL - Chicago - 540 W Madison St - Bank Of America Plaza (IL4540) Pay and benefits information Pay range $105,600.00 - $165,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set. Seven steps to a successful interview 1. Anticipate –Put yourself in the interviewer's position. What do you believe the interviewer is most interested in? Why do you think you have been invited to interview? 2. Research –What are the primary functions of the line of business? What are the success factors for the job? Is there a job description available? 3. Assess –Think about your skills, abilities, knowledge, interests, traits, values and accomplishments. Match them to what you know about the job. Consider which ones you should highlight. 4. Prepare Answers –Think about what the interviewer may ask, determine what the best answer is and write it down. 5. Prepare Questions – Interviewing is a two-way street. By asking thoughtful questions, you communicate your interest and learn a lot about the job. Choose two or three questions to ask your interviewer. Avoid asking a lot of questions about vacation time or breaks. 6. Practice – It may seem awkward, but it is the best way to come across well in an interview.
