Job Description: This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns. Position Summary: The AI Software Engineer supports the development of full-stack Machine Learning (ML) and Generative AI (Gen AI) applications tailored to optimize legal and business workflows. Utilizing AI techniques, the Engineer directly supports end-to-end development of innovative solutions, contributing to rapid prototyping initiatives when needed. In collaboration with Machine Learning (ML) Engineers, the AI Software Engineer helps develop prototypes to evaluate technology readiness and suitability for specific applications, ultimately scaling the most promising prototypes to production-ready applications. Responsibilities: Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas Automates manual release activities Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance) Required Qualifications: A minimum of seven (7) years' Python experience required A minimum of five (5) years' experience with full stack development preferred A minimum of three (3) years' industry experience in full stack AI application development Proficiency with Python including experience with libraries and frameworks relevant to ML/GenAI application development (e.g., LangChain) Proficiency with API development frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI) and knowledge of web standards relating to API development (e.g., CORS, OpenAPI) Experience with modern web development frameworks and languages, including React, Typescript, and Node.js with experience building and maintaining front-end and backend applications Experience with alternative web frameworks such as Vue.js and a strong understanding of component-based architecture, state management and responsive design principles Familiarity working with production-grade vector databases (e.g., Redis ,pgvector, Chroma, or Milvus) for efficient storage and retrieval of embeddings Familiarity with relational (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., Mongo) Solid understanding of modern software development practices including CI/CD/CT, Test-Driven Development, and version control (Git) Familiarity with Agile development Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) Ability to work with unit tests, integration tests and common Python testing frameworks Familiarity with test-driven development Strong analytical skills, and a creative mindset to effectively define problems and explore solutions Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm Ability to work in a team environment with a customer-service focus Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion Ability to continually learn and grow in the AL/ML field Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science or related fields required Skills: Application Development Automation Influence Solution Design Technical Strategy Development Architecture Business Acumen DevOps Practices Result Orientation Solution Delivery Process Analytical Thinking Collaboration Data Management Risk Management Test Engineering Shift: 1st shift (United States of America) Hours Per Week: 40 Bank of America is committed to help employees through the transition period when they're displaced as a result of a workforce reduction, realignment or similar measure. Spell check. Make it error free. • Do use high quality, white or light colored 8½ x 11 paper. Use a laser printer if possible. • Don't be dishonest, always tell the truth about yourself in the most flattering light. • Don't include salary history or requirements. • Don't include references. • Don't include accomplishments that do not support your professional goals. • Don't include anything that isn't relevant. (For example, don't mention your fondness for swimming unless you want to work on the water.) • Don't use italics, underlining, shadows or other fancy treatments. Seven steps to a successful interview 1. Anticipate –Put yourself in the interviewer's position. What do you believe the interviewer is most interested in? Why do you think you have been invited to interview? 2. Research –What are the primary functions of the line of business? What are the success factors for the job? Is there a job description available? 3. Assess –Think about your skills, abilities, knowledge, interests, traits, values and accomplishments. Match them to what you know about the job. Consider which ones you should highlight. 4. Prepare Answers –Think about what the interviewer may ask, determine what the best answer is and write it down. 5. Prepare Questions – Interviewing is a two-way street. By asking thoughtful questions, you communicate your interest and learn a lot about the job. Choose two or three questions to ask your interviewer. Avoid asking a lot of questions about vacation time or breaks. 6. Practice – It may seem awkward, but it is the best way to come across well in an interview. Practice your own "great responses" with others or in front of a mirror until you appear relaxed and at ease. 7. Follow-up – Send a brief follow-up letter to the interviewer. Keep in mind that the many job searchers will not send a follow-up letter. Sending one can become a competitive advantage.
