Procurement Manager (Chemicals & Minerals)

As the Procurement Manager - Chemicals & Minerals at Clariant, your main responsibility will be to lead global sourcing and procurement activities for base chemicals. You will ensure secure, sustainable, and cost-effective supply across manufacturing locations through strategic sourcing, supplier performance management, cost optimization, and risk mitigation. Your role will involve collaborating with various teams in a complex global environment to enable uninterrupted production. **Responsibilities:**

• Lead global sourcing and category management for base chemicals. - Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives and procurement priorities. - Negotiate and manage sourcing agreements and supply contracts in line with corporate policies and ethical standards. - Drive value creation through cost optimization initiatives like de-specification, demand bundling, and innovation-led sourcing. - Ensure competitive pricing and supplier performance using market intelligence and digital sourcing tools (e.g., e-RFQs, e-auctions). - Monitor supplier performance, supply availability, and risks; lead corrective actions where required. - Collaborate with Supply Chain, Planning, Operations, and technical teams to ensure on-time, in-full (OTIF) delivery to production sites. - Support corporate sustainability and responsible sourcing initiatives in partnership with suppliers. **Requirements:**
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Science, or Engineering, with an MBA in Supply Chain or Operations preferred. - 37 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably with global exposure. - Strong capabilities in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and contract management, with a focus on value creation and cost optimization. - Proven experience in supplier performance management, risk mitigation, and market analysis in volatile supply environments. - Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional and multicultural teams, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. - Analytical, adaptable, and digitally enabled, with experience using e-sourcing tools and a commitment to sustainability, ethics, and continuous improvement.
