Safety Coordinator, VA

Seeking a field Safety Coordinators in Norfolk, VA to assist with a long term Road Connector Project. Must have bridge and roadway experience.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Administer compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts to ensure company and project safety goals are met. - Conduct site inspections of project work areas and equipment. - Develop, organize, and implement safety related programs that meet company safety standards. - Assisting in the investigation of accidents and determining root causes and recommend corrective /preventive measures. - Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors. - Coordinate and conduct safety meetings/training programs to ensure effective communication amongst new and existing employees. - Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. - Carry out any other assigned tasks given by the Area Safety Manager or Area Project Manager. - Must be able to stand, walk, and climb multiple flights of stairs. - Outside role, working rotating Days and Night shifts. Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety from an accredited institution or 5 years' experience as a safety professional in the construction industry

• Bridge/Roadway experience

Preferred:

• 7 years’ construction safety experience in heavy construction (marine works, tunnel, or roadway)
• OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Trained
• CHST
• Safety Trained Supervisor-Construction (STS-C) Certified, through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals
• First aid/CPR/AED Certified
