As a Software Asset Manager, your role involves managing the end-to-end software asset lifecycle. This includes acquiring, deploying, maintaining, and retiring software assets. Your key responsibilities will include:
Maintaining and updating a centralized inventory of software assets using SAM and IT Asset Management tools such as Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow, and Manage Engine. - Collaborating with IT Infrastructure and Operations teams to ensure accurate mapping of software installations across servers, devices, and users. - Integrating software asset data with the CMDB and IT service management platforms to support broader IT management and change processes. - Providing data-driven insights to IT Management for decision-making regarding software usage, license compliance, and vendor performance. - Ensuring software installations comply with IT security policies and compliance requirements. - Managing renewals, budget forecasts, and contract negotiations in partnership with IT Procurement and Finance. - Developing and enforcing policies for software usage, approval workflows, and asset lifecycle management to contribute to IT governance. - Assisting with software audits and providing reports to internal and external stakeholders. - Continuously evaluating tools, processes, and policies to enhance SAM and IT asset control maturity. A Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field. - At least 3-5 years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or related IT operations roles. - Prior experience in IT Services, Managed Services, or consulting environments is preferred. - Certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM), ITIL, or related ITAM or SAM certifications are desirable. Additionally, you should possess:
Proficiency in SAM/ITAM tools like Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow SAM Pro, or others. - Knowledge of SNOW tool is preferred. - Strong understanding of software licensing models and compliance requirements for vendors like Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, and Adobe. - Working knowledge of ITIL processes and integration with IT service management platforms. - Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills with experience in Excel and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau). - Ability to collaborate effectively across IT, finance, procurement, and audit teams. - Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
