Principal Platform Engineer, Application Services

The Platform Engineers at Dimensional are focused on leading, designing and developing the platform and services that underpin all of Dimensional's applications and business processes across a variety of technical domains. Application services are key components of the platform, as they provide foundation services that include workflow automation, event-driven integration, ETL, and security tooling in support of software development. We are looking for a hands-on engineer to join our team and own the platform's monitoring and alerting strategy. This strategy includes supporting the platform's current monitoring capabilities in addition to evolving them for future use. You may be a fit for this role if you: Are open-minded, curious, and resourceful Are passionate about/stay current with modern technologies Solve problems systematically and transparently Share ideas, solicit/integrate feedback, design and solve collaboratively Take a software engineering approach and demonstrate automation and security mindsets What you might work on: Design and engineer one or more application services, including workflow automation, messaging/queuing systems, application security, and ETL Engage with application development teams and internal customers to assist with their utilization of application services Develop software solutions using scripting, back-end, and/or front-end technologies Build automation to support the configuration, testing, and deployment of software and infrastructure Collaborate with subject matter experts in a variety of areas to drive the success of our developers, business users, and clients Stay abreast of emerging technologies and partner with technical product owners to define service roadmap Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience 10+ years of experience developing software solutions 5+ years of experience developing modern software-driven infrastructure and/or platform services Experience designing, implementing, and/or supporting workflow automation systems, messaging/queuing systems, and/or ETL frameworks Comfortable troubleshooting vendor software systems Deep familiarity with Linux and related technologies Familiarity with Windows and related technologies Experience developing software in Python (or equivalent), Terraform (or equivalent), and Ansible (or equivalent) Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate complex concepts to various audiences helping them to understand the benefits of technologies and recommended course of action Preferred Competencies: Experience with any of the following: Airflow, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure Working knowledge of security best practices for SDLC (e.g., the Secure Software Development Framework) Experience working in or with an SRE or DevOps team Experience with agile/scrum methodologies Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate Certification or equivalent Financial services industry experience #LI-Hybrid Dimensional offers a variety of programs to help take care of you, your family, and your career, including comprehensive benefits, educational initiatives, and special celebrations of our history, culture, and growth.
