As a Senior Accountant at BMC, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the commitment to compliance and efficiency. Analyze data and perform extensive financial analysis of commissions associated with license and maintenance sales transactions. - Assist in the monthly calculation of both the gross and net commission expense and deferrals and prepare the associated journal entries. - Perform financial forecasting of commission expenses and monitor forecast to actual expenditures. - Reconcile month-end general ledger account balances to various sub-ledgers and resolve any variances. - Resolve commission-related issues and inquiries in a timely manner. - Document changes to policies and procedures for the management of commission accounting activity as needed. - Participate equally in the monthly and quarterly close processes, SOX requirements, and audit reviews. - Maintain and create reports for various commission-related systems/databases. - Test and coordinate changes and upgrades to the various databases and systems with IS&T and assist in determining new methods to automate and improve processes. - Undertake other tactical and strategic commission accounting-related initiatives as assigned. **Qualifications Required:**
Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting with at least 5-7 years of experience in a Finance or Accounting-related role. CPA or MBA preferred. - Advanced Excel skills preferred including macros, pivot tables, power pivots, table queries, etc. - Strong knowledge of financial principles and accounting/budgeting practices. - Effective communication skills to articulate opinions, analysis, and conclusions, with a commitment to customer service excellence. - Familiarity with Oracle, OneStream, MicroStrategy, and/or other related financial systems a plus. - Strong analytical skills and ability to perform complex calculations while understanding the accounting implications of large volumes of transactions. - Strong organizational skills required to manage multiple concurrent tasks. - Ability to quickly learn new systems and work under pressure to adhere to strict deadlines. - Maintain confidentiality.
