Assist in the review of client data protection Policies and Information Notices
Assist the data protection team in supporting clients in completion of ROPA (Records of Processing Activities), DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessments) and TIA (Transfer Impact Assessments) and data protection baseline compliance assessments using tools such as the ICO Accountability Framework. - Assist the data protection team in reviewing DSAR (Data Subject Access Requests)
Assist the data protection team in carrying out Data Breach risk assessments
Assist in reviewing data protection process including the use of tools such as OneTrust
Support the team in delivering AI governance and responsible AI reviews
Assist with Data Processor due diligence assessments for internal services providers and external clients. - Support the preparation of quarterly draft reports and presentations on data protection compliance
Assist in the preparation of data protection awareness training
Assist the Waystone cyber team on data protection matters associated with cyber-security
Assist and support Waystone’s data protection team in developing standardized templates
Assist and support Waystone’s data protection team with core IT projects and tools
Summarise key updates to European legislation, guidance and case studies monthly
REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. - Degree graduate in Law, Computing or related discipline or undertaking Masters programme with a focus on data protection
Good knowledge of EU GDPR and other relevant data protection legislation. - Familiarity with AI‑enabled tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or similar generative AI systems) and an interest in their governance, privacy, and responsible use within organisations. - Self motivated and eager to learn
Willingness to undertake continuous professional education and further qualifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, AIGP
Takes ownership and responsibility for own actions, performance, and development. - Able to manage assigned tasks effectively under supervision. - Demonstrates trustworthiness and understands the need for confidentiality. - Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. - Willingness to learn and use new tools and platforms such as OneTrust, Salesforce, Microsoft 365, and AI‑enabled productivity tools as required. - Willingness to shadow senior team members on client engagements and internal meetings
Good communication and report writing skills
WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
This is a paid internship position. Duration – up to 1 year (minimum 6 months). Hybrid working model with at least 50% on site at our HQ Office in Shelbourne Road, Dublin 4. However, arrangements will be flexible to accommodate attendance at lectures, periods of study, assignment submission, research, dissertations and exam taking. Details will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
