Machinist (Machining) Job Description Set up and operate CNC machines (mills and/or lathes) under supervision Load programs, tools, and materials according to setup sheets Perform tool changes, basic offsets, and minor adjustments as instructed Monitor machining operations to ensure quality and efficiency Inspect parts using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges Read and interpret engineering drawing, GD&T basics, and work instructions Identify and report tooling, machine, or quality issues Load materials and monitor machine cycles as instructed Prepare, kit, and issue cutting tools, holders, and inserts for CNC operators Assemble tool setups according to setup sheets and tool lists Inspect cutting tools for wear or damage and replace inserts as needed Maintain tool inventory and ensure proper storage and organization Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineers and maintenance technicians, to troubleshoot equipment issues and optimize production processes.
