AZACS was awarded the 2023/2024 National ESEA Distinguished Schools Award for Arizona and the 2022 YASS Prize for innovation in education and providing a transformational experience by expanding unique individualized learning programs for autism charter schools. Our AZACS Teacher’s Academy will provide those with a bachelor's degree the potential to advance their career through hands-on learning, comprehensive training, and support from certified educational professionals. We are seeking Classroom Teacher candidates to implement instruction in a classroom with support from campus leadership. Under the supervision and direction of campus leadership, the Classroom Teacher will teach and implement Arizona Autism Charter School’s (AZACS) adopted curriculum and students’ IEP goals within the AZACS structured classroom model. Candidates must be experienced with classroom teaching and ABA teaching strategies and have significant experience conducting these activities within school settings. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to be trained, coached, and be able to motivate behavioral staff in the classroom. The Classroom Teacher will work hand-in-hand with the SPED Campus Leadership and the ABA Manager, implementing a best-practice education model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum and related disorders. Duties:
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities in a classroom environment is preferred
Bachelor's degree required. - Enrollment in the AZACS Teaching Certification program or a college/university certification program is required after obtaining a bachelor's degree
Mastery and enthusiasm for best practices in autism education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs
Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
Ability to communicate with parents, co-workers, and professional contacts courteously and professionally, and follow AZACS guidelines
Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality
Experience in structured teaching, center-based model preferred
Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
