About The Job: Red Hat's Core Platforms Engineering team is looking for an experienced Scrum Master to help drive the Agile transformation of our organization. In this role, you will facilitate ceremonies and mentor multiple Scrum teams composed of some of the brightest engineers in the open-source community. Your primary focus will be supporting the Virtualization Stack of Red Hat Enterprise Linux—our core product and the foundation for offerings like OpenShift Virtualization. Working here, you will collaborate closely with product engineering and a vibrant community of Agile Practitioners dedicated to advancing our Core Platforms mission. What will you do: Guide the engineering team on Agile/Scrum practices, facilitating regular sync up, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives. Collaborate closely with the Product Owners to help manage a highly complex technical backlog, ensuring user stories are well-defined, estimated, and ready for development. Proactively identify and eliminate technical and organizational roadblocks, managing intricate dependencies between hardware partners, internal downstream product teams, and open-source communities. Help the team navigate the complex, asynchronous nature of upstream community development (KVM, QEMU, libvirt) while maintaining alignment with organizational delivery timelines. Shield the engineering team from scope creep, ensuring they can focus on mission-critical, and upstream development. Provide visibility to the stakeholders of any deliverable risks, limitations and health of the team. What will you bring: 3+ years of experience acting as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach within a highly technical software development environment. While you don't need to write kernel code, you must be comfortable working alongside engineers who do. Familiarity with infrastructure software, virtualization concepts and operating systems is highly preferred. Deep hands-on experience managing and configuring Jira, GitHub, or GitLab to optimize workflows, track progress, and visualize bottlenecks. Strong facilitation and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to foster collaboration between deeply technical engineers, product management, and external stakeholders. Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM I/II), or equivalent credentials. Considered a Plus : Familiarity with open-source development methodologies, community dynamics, and mailing-list-driven workflows (e.g., LKML). Previous experience working in environments utilizing C/C++, Rust, or low-level Linux systems engineering. Prior experience with Virtualization and Hypervisors such as KVM, VMWare or Hyper-V About Red Hat Red Hat is the world's leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, using a community-powered approach to deliver high-performing Linux, cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
