Join our Books finance team and become a key player in shaping financial strategy within Amazon's original business line. In this role, you will analyze the underlying economics of the publishing industry, translate inputs to financial reporting, and guide strategic decisions to optimize profitability. You will work in an ever-evolving business that Amazon has historically innovated and changed through offerings such as Kindle Direct Publishing, Print-on-Demand, and Kindle Unlimited. One of the key focuses of this position will be to establish our financial mechanisms for managing Cost-to-Serve, most importantly shipping costs. Our print book business is unique in that a significant number of sales are sourced from our own internally run print-on-demand manufacturing facilities. The placement and operational decisions within our print cells (where to put new cell expansions, operational lead times, shutdowns, etc.) are all inputs to outbound shipping costs. You will not only partner with our retail books operations teams but also our print-on-demand topology business partners and the print-on-demand finance team to support the understanding of shipping costs for print-on-demand vs non-print-on-demand books WW. This position will also help run our Free-Cash-Flow program and be a vital component to supporting other profitability initiatives. This work will require someone who can look around corners, have high ownership and curiosity, and remain comfortable with ambiguity. You will partner closely with business teams, providing accurate controllership while using financial insights to chart business strategy. Your analytical skills will help identify trends that need attention, and your business partnering abilities will position you as a trusted advisor who can think big and drive strategic impact.
