Roles and Responsibilities
- Cluster Build-out & Lifecycle Operations
- Assist in automated deployment and scaling of OpenShift worker nodes on bare metal or virtualized infrastructure
- Participate in adding compute/storage capacity to existing clusters based on demand
- Support L2/L3 engineers during cluster version upgrades and security patching
- Resource Hygiene & Capacity Optimization
- Monitor and enforce Resource Quotas and Limit Ranges to prevent resource hoarding
- Identify and reclaim 'Zombie' resources consuming physical hardware capacity
- Analyze pod packing and node utilization to recommend adjustments for increased container density
- Incident Management & OCP Triage
- Respond to alerts from the OpenShift Monitoring stack
- Resolve common L1 issues like Image Pull BackOff and stuck Persistent Volume Claims
- Maintain cluster health status for seamless shift handoffs
Qualification Required (The Toolkit)
- Orchestration: Red Hat OpenShift (OCP), Kubernetes (K8s) primitives
- Infrastructure: Knowledge of Linux (RHEL/CoreOS), VMware, or Bare Metal PXE booting
- Storage: Understanding of CSI drivers, ODF, or Ceph
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenShift Logging
- CLI Proficiency: Expert-level use of oc and kubectl command-line tools
