Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement: POSITION OVERVIEW The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applications for Adjunct Faculty positions within the School of Business, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Technology, and Tourism Management (S-BEAST-TM). Adjunct faculty are needed to support instruction in hybrid and fully online formats. UMES seeks dynamic educators and industry professionals committed to academic excellence, student success, and workforce preparation. This recruitment supports UMES's strategic priorities of expanding access to high-quality academic programs, increasing enrollment and retention, and strengthening Maryland's workforce pipeline in STEM and industry-driven fields. Primary Responsibilities: • Teach assigned courses in on-campus, hybrid, or online modalities. • Develop and deliver course materials aligned with approved UMES syllabi. • Maintain regular communication with students and provide timely feedback on assessments. • Utilize the University's Learning Management System (LMS) effectively. • Participate in departmental meetings as appropriate. • Support accreditation and continuous quality improvement efforts. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Applicants must meet one of the following credential requirements: • A Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Hospitality & Tourism Management, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline. • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 10 years of significant professional industry experience. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • A demonstrated commitment to student-centered teaching are required for all applicants. Physical Demands: • May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at desk. • May require lifting. • Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and internally. • Requires operation of a variety of office equipment. Preferences: • Earned Doctorate in a related field. • Prior college-level teaching experience. • Experience teaching in online or hybrid course formats. • Active professional licensure or industry certifications (e.g., PE, PMP, or equivalent credentials). • Experience with applied learning methods such as labs, simulations, or project-based instruction Licenses/ Certifications: Additional Information Required Application Materials: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
