As a QE (Backend tester with APIs testing), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and functionality of backend systems and APIs. Your responsibilities will include:
Designing, developing, and executing manual and automated tests for backend systems and APIs using JIRA and X-ray. - Creating detailed and well-structured test plans and test cases based on business and technical requirements. - Performing functional, regression, and integration testing of APIs using tools such as Rest Assured. - Validating backend services, APIs, and data flows by simulating various scenarios. - Identifying, documenting, and tracking bugs through issue tracking systems in JIRA. - Collaborating with developers and product owners to ensure clear understanding of requirements and to clarify bugs or test results. - Analyzing and troubleshooting API responses, server logs, and performance bottlenecks. - Working with CI/CD pipelines to ensure integration of automated tests into the deployment cycle, using Jenkins. - Maintaining test suites, ensuring continuous improvement, and participating in the test automation strategy. - Monitoring production environments for potential issues related to backend services. In addition to the above responsibilities, it is mandatory for you to have the following skills and qualifications:
5-10 years of experience in software testing, with at least 3+ years of hands-on experience in backend/API testing. - Expertise in using API testing tools such as Rest Assured. Good to have skills include:
Knowledge of Non-functional testing - e.g., Performance, accessibility. - Knowledge of UFT for application testing. On a personal level, you should possess the following qualities:
Strong knowledge of RESTful services, JSON/XML data formats, and API protocols. - Proficiency in using test automation frameworks (e.g., Postman/Newman, Rest Assured). - Experience with SQL and working knowledge of databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL). - Understanding of CI/CD processes and tools like Jenkins. - Experience with version control systems such as Git. - Familiarity with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) is a plus. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
