You will be working as a Senior Manager for Staples at a leading B2B platform company in India, located in Chennai. As an experienced Staples Sourcing or Staples procurement professional, you will be responsible for developing and executing the sourcing strategy for high-volume commodity categories like Rice, Pulses, Atta, Sugar, etc. Your main goal will be to establish direct relationships with millers, processors, and wholesalers to ensure price leadership, quality consistency, and high fill rates for Kirana partners. Key Responsibilities:
Implement a direct-from-source strategy by shifting procurement from secondary markets to primary sources. - Identify and onboard high-capacity millers and processors across key production hubs. - Build and maintain long-term partnerships with national and regional millers for priority supply. - Manage a network of local wholesalers for rapid procurement during spikes in demand. - Implement quality control measures at the source and develop stringent quality benchmarks. - Analyze market intelligence, manage risks, and optimize the catalog for local preferences. - Act as a strategic anchor between the Head Office and the field team to influence national strategies. - Design and scale digitized procurement workflows for transparency and efficiency. Required Skills:
5-8 years of experience in Commodity Sourcing or Staples Category Management. - Deep technical knowledge of staples quality and grading processes. - Strong negotiation skills with the ability to drive down costs. - Proficiency in data-driven decision-making for inventory and margin management.
