The Social Media Intern supports the Marketing and Communications team by helping create engaging content for Ivy Tech's social media channels. This position provides hands-on experience in higher education marketing, content creation, storytelling, and digital engagement while helping promote campus events, student success stories, academic programs, and community initiatives. The Social Media Intern supports the Marketing and Communications team by helping create engaging content for Ivy Tech's social media channels. This position provides hands-on experience in higher education marketing, content creation, storytelling, and digital engagement while helping promote campus events, student success stories, academic programs, and community initiatives. Primary Responsibilities Assist with creating and scheduling social media content for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn Capture photos and short-form video content to promote campus programs, environment, and student outcomes Assist with composing captions and help maintain a consistent brand voice across platforms Monitor social media engagement and respond to comments or messages as directed Help brainstorm creative content ideas to increase audience engagement Assist with basic graphic design using Canva or similar tools Track social media performance metrics and provide basic reporting support Collaborate with the marketing team on special projects as needed Work Schedule Flexible part-time schedule based on student availability and office/campus activities, including occasional evening or event coverage. Anticipated 6-8 hours a week from June-July. Current student pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, advertising, public relations, or other related fields. Strong written and verbal communication skills Familiarity with major social media platforms and trends Comfortable taking photos and videos using a smartphone Basic knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools preferred Organized, dependable, creative, and able to meet deadlines Interest in marketing, communications, public relations, or digital media Learning Opportunities The intern will gain experience in: Social media strategy and content planning Brand messaging and storytelling Photography and video content creation Marketing analytics and audience engagement Professional communication and collaboration in a higher education environment Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
